Kilimanjaro Climb + Safari — Which to Do First?

Climbing Kilimanjaro and doing a safari on the same trip? Here's how to sequence it for the best experience.

About a third of our clients combine a Kilimanjaro climb with a safari. The order matters more than you'd expect.

Climb first, safari after Our default recommendation. You arrive fresh and motivated for the climb, then recover on safari with full days in the vehicle. Lodge-based recovery is more comfortable than tent recovery.

Safari first, climb after Works if your safari is short (4 days max) and you have a buffer day before the climb. Long safaris before climbing dull the legs and the focus.

Buffer days Always build in 1 buffer day between the climb's end and any safari travel. Two if your climb ends with a long descent day.

Best routings • 7-day Lemosho climb → 1 rest day in Moshi → 5-day safari → Zanzibar • 6-day Marangu climb → 1 rest day → 4-day classic safari

What we add automatically Post-climb massage, slow first safari day, optional pool day before bush nights.
