Tanzania safari tours run the spectrum from a 3-day taster across Tarangire and the Ngorongoro Crater to 14-day expeditions that follow the wildebeest migration from calving to crossings. Every tour we run is private — your own Land Cruiser, your own senior guide, your own pace — and every itinerary is built in-house from our office in Arusha. No call centres, no overseas resellers, no fixed departures you have to twist your life around.

Why a private Tanzania safari tour matters

Group tours move at the pace of the slowest traveller. Private tours move at yours. You linger when the leopard finally drops from the sausage tree, leave camp at first light when the lions are still on the kopje, and skip the picnic site to eat under an acacia instead. Every Serengeti Wakanda tour is private by default — same guide, same vehicle, same pace, end to end.

You also get the planning benefit. A real Tanzanian planner builds the day-by-day route around your dates and the wildlife movement that week. Trying to chase the migration crossings in August? We know which Mara River bend is busiest. Travelling with three generations? We pair short drive days with kid-friendly lodges and sundowners that work for the grandparents too.

What's on a typical Tanzania safari tour

Most tours follow Tanzania's Northern Circuit — the densest concentration of wildlife on the continent. A 7-day classic visits Tarangire (giant elephant herds and ancient baobabs), Lake Manyara (tree-climbing lions and flamingo flocks), the Ngorongoro Crater (the highest predator density on Earth plus your best chance at black rhino), and the Serengeti (open plains, big cats, the migration).

Shorter tours (3–5 days) focus on the crater plus Tarangire or central Serengeti. Longer tours (10–14 days) add the remote north-western corridor, Loliondo, the Lake Eyasi cultural day, or a Zanzibar tail.

Best time to take a Tanzania safari tour

Tanzania is a year-round destination. June–October is peak dry season — animals concentrate at water sources, Mara River crossings happen July through early October, and weather is reliable. January–March is calving season on the southern Serengeti plains — 500,000+ wildebeest calves drop in a 3-week window and predator action is extraordinary. April–May is the green long-rains low season — lush landscapes, fewer vehicles, lower lodge rates, occasional muddy roads. November–December brings the short rains and beautiful late-afternoon light.

Ngorongoro Crater is exceptional in every month — the wildlife doesn't migrate out.

Tanzania safari tour pricing

A real private safari tour with proper lodges starts at USD 395 per person per day for mid-range, USD 650 for premium, and USD 1,150+ for the iconic luxury camps in peak migration season. Park fees alone are USD 70–80 per person per day in Serengeti and USD 100 per vehicle plus USD 60 per person in the crater — about a third of the cost on most tours.

What we never do: cut corners on guides, vehicles or park access to publish a low headline price. Every quote breaks out every line so you know exactly what you're paying for.

How we plan your tour

Within 24 hours of your enquiry, a senior planner replies with three or four itinerary options and honest pricing for each. You revise as much as you want — change dates, swap lodges, shorten or extend — until it's perfect. We hold camps for 7 days while you decide, then a 25% deposit confirms.

At arrival in Arusha you meet your guide the night before, get a full briefing, and travel with the same guide and vehicle for the whole tour. We're on WhatsApp 24/7 from departure to homeward flight.

Combine your tour with Zanzibar or Kilimanjaro

Roughly 60% of our guests add a Zanzibar tail — 3 to 5 days of white sand, dhow sunsets and Stone Town spice tours, with a 90-minute flight from Arusha. Another 20% combine a 6–8 day Kilimanjaro climb (Machame or Lemosho route) before the safari, using the safari as the perfect post-summit reward.
