Tanzania Safari Tours — Private, Tailor-Made & Locally Run

On a private safari the day is yours. Linger when the leopard finally drops from the sausage tree. Leave camp at first light when the lions are still on the kopje. Skip the picnic site and eat under an acacia instead. Group tours can't do any of this — they run to a schedule built for the slowest traveller in the group.

Everything we plan is private by default. You get your own Toyota Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof, a window seat for everyone, charging ports, a fridge, and a senior driver-guide who has averaged 10+ years in the parks. The same guide stays with you for the entire trip, so by day three they already know which sightings will land for you and which to drive past.

Our safaris run through Tanzania's Northern Circuit — the densest concentration of wildlife on the continent and the home of the Great Migration. A classic 7-day itinerary visits Tarangire (giant elephant herds and ancient baobabs), Lake Manyara (tree-climbing lions and flamingos), the Ngorongoro Crater (the highest density of predators anywhere on Earth, plus your best chance at the endangered black rhino), and the Serengeti (open plains, lion prides, and the migration).

Shorter trips (3–5 days) focus on Ngorongoro plus either Tarangire or the central Serengeti. Longer trips (10–14 days) add the more remote north-western corridor, Loliondo, or combine the safari with Zanzibar's white-sand beaches.

Tanzania is a year-round destination, but each window has its own character.

• January–March: Calving season on the southern Serengeti plains. Hundreds of thousands of wildebeest give birth in a 3-week window, and the predator action is unmatched.
• June–early July: Long-rains have ended, the bush is green but thinning, and the herds are concentrated in the western corridor.
• July–October: Peak migration. Mara River crossings, dry weather, intense game viewing across all parks. Book 9–12 months ahead for the best camps.
• November–December: Short rains, beautiful afternoon light, lower prices, and excellent resident wildlife in Tarangire and Ngorongoro.

Ngorongoro Crater is exceptional in any month — the wildlife doesn't migrate out.

Honest pricing: a real private Tanzania safari with proper lodges starts at about USD 350–450 per person per day for mid-range, USD 600–900 for high-end lodges, and USD 1,200+ for the iconic luxury camps in peak migration season. Park fees alone are USD 70–80 per person per day in Serengeti and USD 100 per vehicle plus per-person entry in the crater — about a third of the cost on most trips.

What we never do: cut corners on guides, vehicles or park access to publish a low headline price. Every quote we send breaks down every line so you know exactly what you're paying for.
