Group Tanzania Safaris - Private Departures for 4 to 20 Travellers

Private group departures through the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire - one planner, matched vehicles, and a per-person price that falls the bigger your group gets.

A group safari in Tanzania is the best-value way to travel: park fees, guide and vehicle costs are shared, so the per-person rate drops sharply from two travellers up to six per vehicle. We run private group departures for extended families, groups of friends, photography clubs, church and school groups, and corporate incentive trips. Every group gets its own vehicles and guides who convoy together, radio each other onto sightings, and keep the whole party at the same camps each night.

How group pricing works

Each Land Cruiser seats six guests comfortably with a window seat and roof hatch space for everyone. Park entry, crater descent, guide and vehicle costs are shared across the vehicle, so the per-person rate falls steadily as the group grows.

As a guide, on a 7-day mid-range Northern Circuit itinerary: 2 travellers from about USD 2,950 per person, 4 travellers from about USD 2,450, 6 travellers from about USD 2,150, and 10+ travellers (two vehicles) from about USD 2,050. Larger groups also unlock lodge group rates and, from 12 paying guests, a free place for the group leader on most itineraries.

Vehicles, guides and convoy logistics

Groups over six travel in two or more Land Cruisers that move as a convoy. Guides share sightings by radio, so if one vehicle finds a leopard the rest are there within minutes. We keep the same guide with the same vehicle for the whole trip so relationships build, and we rotate seating if guests want to swap between vehicles day to day.

All vehicles carry a cooler box, charging points, binoculars, reference books and a first-aid kit. Wi-Fi hotspots can be added for corporate groups.

Accommodation for groups

We hold blocks of rooms at properties that can take the whole party at once, so nobody is split across two lodges. Family rooms, triples and interconnecting rooms are available in the mid-range tier; luxury camps usually cap at eight to twelve tents, so we book early for larger parties.

For camping groups we run our own crew - a chef, camp assistants and full equipment - and use private and public campsites inside Tarangire, Serengeti and the Ngorongoro rim.

Who these trips suit

Multi-generation family reunions, groups of friends travelling together, university alumni and church groups, photography clubs wanting matched vehicle set-ups, and corporate incentive or team-building trips that pair three safari days with a Zanzibar or Arusha meeting block. We also handle mixed-interest groups: some guests climb Kilimanjaro while the rest safari, then everyone meets on Zanzibar.

Parks you will visit

Most group itineraries run the Northern Circuit: Tarangire for elephant herds and baobabs, Lake Manyara for tree-climbing lions and flamingos, the Ngorongoro Crater for the Big Five in a single day, and the Serengeti for the plains and the migration. Cultural add-ons at Lake Eyasi (Hadzabe and Datoga) and Mto wa Mbu work especially well with groups.

How we plan a group trip

Send us your group size, dates and rough budget. Within 24 hours a senior planner replies with two or three costed options and a room-block plan. We hold space for 7-14 days while your group decides, take a single deposit or individual deposits (your choice), and issue one master invoice plus per-traveller statements if that helps your organiser.

Frequently asked questions

We regularly run groups of up to 20 travellers across three or four Land Cruisers. Bigger parties are possible with more notice, since lodge capacity rather than vehicles becomes the limit.
