Tanzania vs. Kenya — the head-to-head
Both are exceptional, and many guests do both eventually. Where Tanzania wins: sheer space (the Serengeti alone is over 14,750 km² — Kenya's Masai Mara is 1,510 km²), lower vehicle density outside the central Mara reserve, the calving season (Tanzania-only, on the Ndutu plains), and the combination with Zanzibar and Kilimanjaro in one trip. Where Kenya wins: shorter park-to-park transfers, the Mara River crossings concentrated in one place July–October, and slightly cheaper fly-in safari structures.
